Sažetak
This text deals with required reading that holds no interest for young people, which is one of the main factors that precipitated the crisis of reading in Croatia. The author of this text has undertaken a project called combined reading with the aim of bringing closer the literature to the aesthetic sensitivity of young readers. Emphasis has been laid on contemporary texts and the fact that students have been able to choose their reading themselves. The research that has been conducted over the period of two years has confirmed a positive response of students to the combined reading, as well as their increased interest in polite letters. Reading should not be a tedious duty. On the contrary, students should be encouraged to think of reading as a labour of love.
