Sažetak
HAPO study (Hyperglycemia Adverse Pregnancy Outcome) was designed to establish the more accurate levels in gestational diabetics where more active intervention will be necessary. The goal of HAPO study was to clarify the association between various glucose intolerance stages and adverse perinatal outcomes in women without pregestational diabetes. It was important for the HAPO study to propose new criteria for diagnosis of GDM. The proposition of the HAPO study for diagnose of GDM is defined by measuring the glucose concentration in venous plasma of the mother and the when the results of the measuring are equal or above of the thresholds: a) any fasting value equal or more than 5.1 mmol/L b) after 75 grams glucose load (oGTT) 1 hour measurement equal or more than 10 mmol/L and/or 2 hours measurement equal or more than 8.5 mmol/L. Overt diabetes during pregnancy is diagnosed when fasting glucose equals or more than 7 mmol/L and when 2 hour glucose concentration after 75 grams load (oGTT) equals or more 11.1 mmol/L. Any random plasma glucose of 11.1 mmol/L or more is the initial measure, the tentative diagnosis of overt diabetes in pregnancy should be confirmed by fasting plasma glucose or by HbA1c.
