Sažetak
Climate change has become one of the major challenges for mankind and the natural environment. Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions released into the atmosphere in ever rapidly growing volumes are recognized to be responsible for this change. The dominant part of GHG emission is result of carbon dioxide release in the earth’s atmosphere. The impact of human factor for aforementioned issues is immeasurable. Understanding and considering the distribution of per capita carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions around the different countries is important in designing international climate change proposals, as well as fine tuning of the alternative technology adoption in the near future. We evaluate international emissions distributions across the 38 various world’s countries (Croatia as an unit of observation included), to assess whether per capita emissions have been converging or diverging in the 1990-2005 time span. We find evidence of convergence CO2 per capita emission among 38 various kind of countries over 1990–2005. We also calculate across the supposed country sample the speed of convergence in carbon dioxide emission and the half-life time of convergence in years.
