Sažetak
Prikanac, Phoxinellus pseudalepidotus Bogutskaya & Zupančić 2003 (Teleostei: Cyprinidae), is an endemic species that inhabit Mostarsko blato, and is considered to be present in the wider Neretva river basin (Bogutskaya & Zupančić, 2003). In the earlier literature (Heckel & Kner 1858, Seeley 1886 ; Kolombatović 1886 ; Trgovčević 1905 ; Ćurčić 1913 ; Vukovic & Ivanovic, 1975 ; Vukovic 1977 ; Povž et al., 1999) fish was identified as Phoxinellus alepidotus that is morphologically quite similar (Bogutskaya & Zupančić, 2003). The objective of the study was to examine the annual and monthly sex ratio of the species in the area of Mostarsko blato. Specimens were colected monthly over the course of one year (2009). The results show that the total annual sex ratio population of prikanac in Mostarsko blato area was - male: female = 1:1, 185. Males are represented with a share of 45.75% and 54.25% females. The overall difference between the sexes is not statistically significant (chi-square test). However, during the year above the relationship shows considerable variability. Since the expected value, the significant different sex ration was found in January, February, March and April dominated by females. In May and September male statistically dominated in population.
