Sažetak
The lecture is the presentation of a part of the current study ‘’Effects of diagnostic X-ray procedures during airways examination in children’’ supporting by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sport. The intention of the project is to make algorithms of everyday work in radiology department especially in our hospital where most of the patients are children to reduce the exposure of patients. Radiation protection of patients depends also on the work of the radiology technician. Their work with patients i.e. X-ray imaging depends on their education, experience and their working conditions. The study involved 3 technicians, A, B and C and 60 patients. Every technician had 20 patients. The three differently experienced technicians were unaware of the point of the study. Entrance skin dose of radiation on the back of the children patients during diagnostic X-ray of thoracic organs with Shimadzu 150 kV CH-200M unit were systematically measured. Patients were chosen by age (6-16 years), height (117-179 cm.) and weight (22-77 kg.). Conditions of the X-ray machine were within the following values: voltage: 95-105 kV, quantity of charge: 1.6 - 3.6 mAs, distance 150 cm. Doses were measured with RPL and TL dosimeters. The results squarely indicated that the radiation dose depends on the work of the radiology technician. Quite a bit difference between technicians in their work and as a consequence, between the doses that patients received during X-ray imaging were found. On the basis of the results education of the technician will be organised to reduce the patient radiation dose conditioned by human working method and to improve radiation protection of children.
