Sažetak
The purpose of this paper is to examine the practice and the role of HRM in the companies from Croatia and its influence on company performance. Modern companies challenging rapidly changing environment have to be ready for requirements to change the role of HRM, especially today when the companies are under the pressure of the world economic and financial crisis. The focus in this paper research is on the professionalization of HRM function (education level), recruitment, training, compensation strategy and ICT methods used in HRM process. The companies’ categorization is made by number of employees, which is one of the most popular criteria for differentiation between the companies. The HRM function is one of the five the most important basic functions of management. Besides the function of HRM, other functions are: planning, organizing, leading and controlling. The function of HRM plays very important role in each organization, but its role can be different from companies to companies, especially in the segment of ICT industry. But, still there is no doubt that HRM has significant impact on the overall results of the companies. This paper presents a qualitative and quantitative analysis of HRM function in Croatian companies based on the survey method and extensive literature analysis made by researchers.
