Sažetak
Monounsaturated oil (MUFA-diet), such as virgin olive oil (OO), and polyunsaturated oil (PUFA-diet), such as corn oil, are suggested to have selective physiological effects on tissue membranes. The effect of liver regeneration on the content of brain phospholipids and polar lipid fatty acids was studied in C57/Bl mice fed for three weeks using two different diets: standard diet and standard diet enriched with 5% of extra virgin olive oil, containing predominantly oleic acid (18:1n-9). Total lipids were extracted from brain tissue samples with a chloroform-methanol mixture (2:1, v/v) according to Folch et al. Phospholipids were separated and purified from brain's total lipid mixture using solid phase extraction (SPE) procedure on aminopropylsilica columns. Fatty acids (FAs) of polar lipids were analysed in the form of fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) by gas chromatography (GC).
