Sažetak
During the Military Border period in the area of these five present-day communes significant changes in the ethnic composition of the population occured. The proportion between the number of Croats and Serbs established at that time was essencially unchanged by later unfavourable demographical trends up till 1981, when the number of persons who declared themselves as Yugoslavs suddenly incrised. Differently from the total population, a relative share of Croats and Serbs was considerably changed ammong the population of the central settlements: up to 1910 Croats prevailed while in the postwar period Serbs became the majority.
