Sažetak
The reduction in CO2/GDP over the world’s different regions could be due to the increase in the ratio of services to manufacturing industry. In economic convergence analysis, world regional CO2/GDP ratio variation is often ignored mainly because of the preferences towards the GDP per capita maximization as a primary goal of economic welfare policy. In environmental economics gas emission per GDP differences have an impact on regional socio-economic convergence. One argument suggests that CO2 emissions greatly impact on measurement of health, well being and the standards of living. This paper analyzes the patterns of world CO2/GDP convergence 1990-2005 based on the data on human CO2 emissions for 38 countries (1990-2005). Using various inequality measures, the results indicate that CO2/GDP variation has a great impact on the patterns of world-regional convergence analysis. This reflects a need for the development of an explicit regional environment protection policy.
