Sažetak
The distribution of the hydrates of calcium oxalate during batch precipitation from calcium chloride and sodium oxalate feed solutions has been studied. The distribution was found to depend on the type and order of mixing the feed solutions, on the initial feed solution composition, on the type of stirring, and on the degree of mechanical grinding imposed on the crystals. The thermodynamically stable monohydrate was present in all the precipitations, even after short times. The dihydrate and trihydrate kinetics appear far more sensitive to factors such as mixing and stirring than do those of the monohydrate. The study also provides tentative evidence that the presence of a magnetic field influences the nature of the precipitate.
