Sažetak
During the history human welfare has been considered as more important and superior than animal welfare. The new business ethics is based on ecocentric premises. It is sustainable and responsible for life, so it transcends classical anthropocentric dualism between humans and non-humans. With increasing public awareness of ecological problems, the question of animal welfare has became more visible but still inadequately conducted in practice. The paper presents the concept of animal rights and current trends which demonstrate importance of animal welfare in business, science and everyday life. Also, some gaps between the theory and practice will be drawn.
