Sažetak
Experiments were conducted during 2001 and 2002 in Slovenia to investigate the effects of "Polyfeed" fertilizer (21:11:21 + Mg + microelements) application with and without irrigation on the performance of 'Golden Delicious' and 'Pinova' apples grafted on M9 rootstock, grown at a spacing of 3.2x0.7 m (4464 trees/ha) and trained as a slender spindle. The experiment with 'Golden Delicious' was conducted during the second and third year after planting, while that with 'Pinova' was conducted during the second season. The results showed no significant effect of applied irrigation treatments on tree vegetative performance and internal fruit quality (firmness, soluble solids and starch index) of both cultivars. However, irrigation improved fruit size and yield per tree. The results indicated the positive effects of irrigation on tree performance in high density apple orchards during tree establishment.
