Sažetak
The results of three years survey of hepatitis C virus infection in one hemodialysis unit was done. Anti-HCV antibodies have been determined in serum samples of all patients undergoing chronic hemodialysis treatment using ABBOT HCV EIA 2nd generation. We also controlled all members of the staff in the same period, and they were all anti-HCV negative. Over the first two years of the survey anti-HCV had been found in 4, 6-7, 6%, but in the third year of out study three de novo anti-HCV patients were detected. Thees three patients were dialysed in the same room with other anti-HCV positive patients. They did not receive any blood products during the past 12 months, and time on hemodialysis has not been longer than in other patients undergoing hemodialysis. We have therefore concluded that HCV has not transmitted by the blood products but that infection has been nosocomial. This observation implies total isolation anti-HCV positive subjects from the other patients on hemodialysis.
