Sažetak
Elderly populations in transition economies tend to be increasingly
vulnerable. Many of them have experienced deteriorating life quality. In
this paper the authors present findings from a study on retirees in
Croatia. Empirical data were collected from a representative sample of the
entire elderly population of Croatians. The authors suggest there are
specific retiree segments, they share some findings regarding members of those
segments and conclude quality of life is often related to one's affiliation
with a particular segment. Regardless of segmentation categories, however,
many retirees struggle with subsistence living.
