Sažetak
Immunoprotection of pigeons against paramyxovirus 1 infection is very important preventive measure in the Republic of Croatia, and in question how effective it is in gain of protective titre against this infectious disease. Serum collection from different pigeon owners gave us an opportunity to investigate how high the level of protection is. Serum was analyzed from group A of pigeons before and 4 weeks after the vaccination with 0, 25 ml of inactivated PPMV-1 vaccine in dorsal site of the neck. In other trial, group B, serum was analyzed from two groups, group 1 that was vaccinated once and from group 2 that was vaccinated twice with the same inactivated vaccine before this vaccination, and sera were taken 4 and 20 weeks after vaccination. Statistically significant differences were detected during the trial in group A. Results of HI test showed that vaccine induced humoral immunity and level of detected antibodies was significantly higher 4 weeks after vaccination in the group A. In second trial in group B, 5 months after vaccination, level of serum antibodies is still rising compared to level 4 weeks after vaccination, even not significantly. Besides that, vaccine did not cause any clinical reaction after application, so this vaccine could be recommended as safe and potent preventive product.
