Sažetak
It is expected that during the lifetime of a certain concrete structure, some objects drop or hit its surface and cause the damage. Dropping object can cause a serious failure and put at risk further use of the specific concrete element or the whole structure. Due to impact load, it can appear penetration, cracking, spalling or scabbing of material. The problem is more complicated when a structure element consists of several layers of different types of materials. For example, industrial floor is normally multi-layered. Each layer has its own characteristic properties (modulus of elasticity, thickness, strength). However, the behaviour of the floor must be observed as a system, and not every layer by itself. The most common types of the overlays on industrial floors are: a) bonded overlays; b) unbonded overlays and c) unbonded overlays on thermal insulation.
Most of the standardised methods are intended to test impact resistance solely of the overlay material, and not for the whole system consisting of the concrete slab and overlay. In the our laboratory experiments different combinations of concrete slabs and overlays were tested as the whole system. For laboratory testing, 8 different types of specimens were made. Overlays were applied on concrete slabs. Two of them were polymer modified portland cement mortars (PMM) and six were polymer mortars (PM). Also, thicknesses of overlays were varied.
