Sažetak
The idea of starting the journal for the scientific and professional issues regarding kinesiology as a science was conceived in the late sixties among few enthusiasts affiliated with the High School of Physical Education in Zagreb. The journal was established primarily to be a forum for the kinesiologists with the Zagreb Faculty of Physical Education. The first number of the journal named Kineziologija (in English Kinesiology) was published in the autumn of 1971. From the very beginning the journal was published twice a year containing papers with references. At the end of the 80’s and at the beginning of the 90’s the continuation of publishing was suspended for almost three years. Fortunately, the journal was restored in 1992 under the new Editorial Board and with the financial support of Croatian Ministry of Science, Technology and Informatics. After renewal of the Journal a new editing concept was declared in the Editorial – it "acknowledges an interdisciplinary approach to the scientific and professional issues and, therefore, Journal welcomes papers dealing with issues regarding kinesiology, as well as others adjacent scientific fields". In 1995 Croatian Ministry of Science and Technology recognized Kineziologija as an international scientific journal. To draw attention of the international scientific community Kineziologija changed its title to Kinesiology in the year 2000. Since its renewal, the journal has undoubtedly enriched certain standards of the content quality and scientific communicability (blind peer-reviewing, the body of national and international referees, publishing in English language, the international Editorial Board, regularity in publishing: in June and December, abstracts in English and Extended abstracts in Croatian, referencing in signal publications and data bases). As a confirmation of its quality, Kinesiology has been selected for coverage in Thomson Reuters products and custom information services in 2008. It is now indexed and abstracted in the most appreciated data bases such as Science Citation Index Expanded and Social Sciences Citation Index.
