Sažetak
The very polarity between the 'external' and 'internal', 'first-person' and 'third-person' perspective (particularly in the sense of their exclusiveness) has done much harm, and in that sense the notions require serious reconsiderations. This contribution is an attempt to deal critically with some aspects of internalist response to externalist 'threat', trying to show that neither is internalist view 'naked' or naive nor is the externalist perspective necessarily alien to the authentic nature of the conscious mind, whereby the focus will be on the first-personness. Yet the view 'within' leaves us with many open questions, and cries out for clarifications. In addition, directness seems to deceive and blind us ; immediacy often proves to be uninstructive. Questioned is the widespread assumption that what the 1st person perspective convenes is basically reports on qualia, and that any thorough introspection must lead us to the bedrock of 'raw feels'. In my view it is the intelligibility of the world, as shaped in intersubjectivity, rather than the qualitative coloring of subjective feels, that marks the conscious mind in a distinctive way.
