Sažetak
Coastal sea is very precious natural resource, and it is important to keep its assimilative capacity at the acceptable level. Therefore, it makes sense to implement decision support system, concerning at the same time the concept of sustainable development. The purpose of this paper is to apply information technology including GIS, dynamic programming and multicriterial analysis in coastal water resources management. Such system has to adjust to the very complex coastal zone management mechanism as well as to dynamic natural system. The framework of this system is demonstrated on the coastal area of city of Split, as system for sea monitoring, control and selection of optimalc schedule for treatment plants. This approach, together with information technology, represents a very useful layout for developing similar systems that concern management of natural recourses.
