Sažetak
Theoretical subject under the label of 'embodiment' has gained relevance in the recent time in a number of fields of research ranging from communication, language and cognition to cognitive science and artificial intelligence. The major lesson is that neither signification nor communication (nor cognition in general) can be reduced to a system of abstract symbols that is apt to formalization. What the classical theories oversee is the import of the embodied knowing that represents expeiential infrastructure not reducible to the actual, to the given or propositional. It is the embodiment that provides an instant and competent access to the world of art. In spite of the evident import of embodied 'knowing' the issue, as it seems, has been widely ignored in the domain of aesthetics thus far. It is the aim of this paper to point to various aspects of embodiment that are relevant for a more profound understanding of aesthetic processes. The claim is that aesthetic appreciation and understanding is rooted in the cluster of implicit knowing acquired by the bodily know-how. It is within the embodiment that the integration of diverse mental phenomena affiliated with aesthetic experience takes place.
