Kraniometrijskom analizom građe pohranjene u zbirci Zavoda za biologiju Veterinarskog fakulteta uočena je pojava drugog gornjeg predkutnjaka (P}{\f1\lang1050\super 2}{\f1\lang1050 ) u dvije od}{\f150\lang1050 četiri jedinke euroazijskog risa (}{\i\f1\lang1050 Lynx lynx}{\f150\lang1050 ). Zub je jednostavne morfološke građe, a smješten je neposredno aboralno od očnjaka. Više autora navodi da je, za razliku od ostalih mačaka, u risa P}{\f1\lang1050\super 2}{\f1\lang1050 reduciran tijekom evolucije, te da zubna formula glasi 3/3, }{\f150\lang1050 1/1, 2/2, 1/1. Kraniometrijska istraživanja proširena su sa 30 lubanja risa u posjedu lovaca Primorsko-goranske županije, te je na ukupnom uzorku od 34 lubanje pojava P}{\f1\lang1050\super 2}{\f150\lang1050 uočena na 7 }{\f1\lang1050 (20,6%). Dvadesetitri jedinke bile su dobi 1-3 godine, a 11}{\f150\lang1050 jedinki više od 3 godine. Sve pojave opisanog zuba uočene su među mlađim jedinkama. U podjednakog broja jedinki uočena je pojava ili lijevog ili desnog P}{\f1\lang1050\super 2}{\f1\lang1050 , a ni u jedne jedinke oba. S obzirom da je populacija risa u Hrvatskoj potekla od tri pa}{\f150\lang1050 ra risova iz slovačkih Karpata naseljenih u Sloveniju 1973. godine, sigurno je bar jedna jedinka osnivačke populacije bila nosilac gena za pojavu toga zuba. Iz toga proizlazi da P}{\f1\lang1050\super 2}{\f150\lang1050 u risa nije u potpunosti evolucijski reduciran, odnosno genetički izgubljen. Moguće je pretpostaviti da je visoki postotak pojavljivanja toga zuba posljedica malog broja jedinki osnivačke populacije}{\f1\lang1050 u kojoj su se}{\f150\lang1050 postojeće genetičke značajke uvišestručile}{\f1\lang1050 . Pretpostavljena mala}{\f150\lang1050 genetičk}{\f1\lang1050 a varijabilnost hrvatskoh risova nije dosada pokazala }{\f150\lang1050 nikakove negativne učinke}{\f1\lang1050 . }{\f150\lang1050 Daljnja istraživanja na lubanjama risova u Slovačkoj mogla bi pokazati učestalost te pojave u izvornoj populaciji, a u učestalost u drugim populacijama naseljenim u Švicarsku i Francusku bi ilustrirala učinka suženog protoka gena. \par }{\f1\lang1050 \par }{\f1\lang1033 FREQUENCY OF OCCURENCE OF SECOND UPPER PREMOLLAR IN CROATIAN POPULATION OF EURASIAN LYNX (}{\i\f1\lang1033 Lynx lynx}{\f1\lang1033 ) \par \par \tab Morphometric studies of large carnivore skeletons are part of broad study of their various biological and ecological features within the Croatian large carnivore project. Craniometric analyses of the material from the collection stored in the Biology Department of the Veterinary Faculty revealed the occurrence of the second upper premolar (P}{\f1\lang1033\super 2}{\f1\lang1033 ) in two of four samples of Eurasian lynx (}{\i\f1\lang1033 Lynx lynx}{\f1\lang1033 ). This tooth is of simple morphology and is placed closely aboral to canine tooth. Several authors list that P}{\f1\lang1033\super 2 }{\f1\lang1033 in lynx, contrary to the other cats, has been reduced during evolution, resulting in tooth formula 3/3, 1/1, 2/2, and 1/1. We widened the craniometric studies to 30 sculls held by hunters in Primorsko-goranska county. In the total sample of 34 sculls the feature was observed in 7 individuals (20,6%). The age of 23 animals was 1-3 years (subadults), and 11 were over 3 years (adults). All P}{\f1\lang1033\super 2}{\f1\lang1033 teeth were found in the subadult group. None lynx had P}{\f1\lang1033\super 2}{\f1\lang1033 on both sides, and it's occurrence on the left and right side was similar. Croatian lynx population originated from only three pairs reintroduced to Slovenia in 1973 from Slovakian Carpatian Mountains. It must be that at least one of animals from the founder's population was the carrier of gene responsible for this phenotipical feature. This is the proof that P}{\f1\lang1033\super 2}{\f1\lang1033 in lynx was not evolutionary completely reduced or genetically lost. It can be assumed that the high percentage of occurrence of this tooth in Croatia is the consequence of the multiplication of this genetical trait brought by the only few animals taken from sorce population. The overall low genetical variability may be expected, though no negative inbreeding effect has been documented yet.
