Sažetak
This paper gives theoretical views of the terms curriculum and competence, as there is no scientific consensus about the definition of these terms. Furthermore, teachers' professional competences and curriculum focused on the development of these competencies in teachers' initial education, are viewed from the aspect of contemporary reform movements at the global level, stressing the need for international cooperation and partnership in dealing with this very important issue, while respecting, of course, freedom of academic institutions. Authors point out that it is important to follow national standards as well as international recommendations at designing the curriculum for teachers' education in order to ensure quality at national and international level.
