Sažetak
The article explains the major issues in providing quality of service in IP networks comprised of multiple domains. The network control and management node enables automatization of service level negotiations, along with inter and intra domain QoS configuration related functionalities. Desirable functionalities of the network control and management node are identified, with analysis of its architecture, required interfaces, communication protocols and scalability issues. The network control and management node has been implemented in Linux based differentiated services network. The implementation is comprised of control and monitoring part of the domain and software upgrades for network elements that classify traffic and configure edge and core routers.
