Sažetak
In recent times is intensively investigated the connection of Chlamydia trachomatis as an etiological factor in the occurrence of preinvasive lesions and genital carcinoma in women. In the article presents the most important data from literature. The frequency of C. trachomatis endocervical infection is significantly higher in women with preinvasive lesions of the uterine cervix. During 26 years of follow up in the samples of cytological smears and biotopic materials DNA, C. trachomatis has been proven by PCR method significantly more often in women with cervical carcinoma than in women comprising the control group. The C. trachomatis infection frequency is significantly higher in women with HPV infection. There is the connection between chlamydial and HPV infections in the occurrence of cervical intraepithelial neoplasms (CIN). In the pathogenesis of CIN lesions, besides HPV infection, other mechanisms are probably included as well, for example C. trachomatis infection. C. trachomatis is a possible co-factor in the induction of preinvasive lesions of the uterine cervix in the HPV induced occurrence, but not the promoter of the higher stages of the diseases. Serotype G and simultaneous presence of several C. trachomatis serotypes are significantly more frequent in women with cervical carcinoma. What is the real pathogenic effect of chlamydial infection upon the occurrence of preinvasive lesions and cervical carcinoma will be shown by further studies.
