Sažetak
It is known that inflammation accompanies tissue regeneration. Among the most provocative phenomena of impaired healing is the phenomena of enhanced osteogenesis in patients with traumatic brain injury. We have analyzed the growth of human mononuclear blood cells in presence of sera of patients with 1. fractures of long bones 2. only brain injury 3. combined brain injury and fractures. The effects of the sera obtained during the first four posttraumatic weeks on the growth of PBM in the presence of 2.5 micrograms/ ml PHA-L or in the absence of mitogen, determined by the incorporation of radioctive H-TdR were compared with the effects of the same concetration of normal human serum. Lower PHA index was in presence of sera of patients with bone fracture, in case of sera of patients with TBI or combined injury incorporation was normal in presence of PHA-L. The sera of patients with combined TBI and fractures showed the most inhibiting effect at the time. Since at the same time, enhanced osteogenesis was observed in this patients, it is supposed that the phanomenon of enhanced osteogenesis in patients with TBI could be related to the same humoral factors which inhibit mitogenic reactivity of the PBM cells.
