Sažetak
The paper examines the influence of some socio-demographic markers of young people on their attitude towards people with physical disabilities. The research was done on the sample of 257 persons in Croatia: 127 university students (final years) and 130 pupils of elementary school (final, 8th grade). Cognitive and emotional components were taken in consideration in the analysis: the cognitive component in sense of segregation of people with physical disabilities and seeing the position of people with disabilities as tragic ; the emotional component in sense of feeling of uneasiness in communication with persons with disability. The results of the research have shown that age of respondents is an extremely important component Younger persons have less experience and know less about persons with physical disabilities. Consequently, their attitudes are less positive in comparison with the attitudes of the university students. In addition, the different attitudes were found considering sex as a marker: girls have more positive attitude towards persons with disability than boys. Experience is connected with affective component of attitudes only. It is of crucial importance to continue working on informing about persons with disabilities, and on their further integration into society.
