Sažetak
The anthology Cithara octochorda is one of the examples of religious poetry with songs in Croatian and Latin languages. Cithara octochorda came into being at the apogee of musical baroque and at the time of the reform of the chorale. The connection between the popular, the spiritual and the secular song is specific to our circumstances. Exept for Croatian songbooks and anthologies, sources for the songs in Cithara can also be found in foreign songbooks: the Songbook by Mihael Veha from the year 1537, the Czech-Slovak songbook Cantus catholici from the year 1700, and the Latin-Hungarian songbook Cantionale Catholicum from the year 1676. This anthology had an influence on the musical life of northen Croatia at the time of its creation. Some of the songs can still be heard on the whole territory of Croatia.
