Sažetak
In this paper, causes of surface crack appearance in the lacquer films on door frames side surfaces made of MDF were investigated. Lacquered polyurethane film structure consists of two-component clear base, two-component white base and two-component white semi gloss enamel paint. Physical and mechanical properties, as well as free formaldehyde concentration of lacquered MDF door frames were investigated. Also an analysis of lacquered film structure was made using sulphuric acid in order to establish the depth of cracks. It was found that the cracks are not superficial, and that the lacquer film cracking is a consequence of deeper cracks in inadequate MDF panels, that is MDF panels that do not meet the requirements of HRN EN 622-5 standard. For door frames it is necessary to apply bearing MDF panels for use in dry conditions type MDF.LA, and in increased relative humidity it is necessary to apply fibreboards for general use in wet conditions type MDF.H or bearing panels for use in wet conditions, type MDF.HLS. Thin MDF panel, glued to thick one must be of increased resistance to water or fibreboard from a group of HDF boards. It is also essential to fully protect the door frames with polyurethane films, not only on visible sides, to prevent humidity and water vapour sorption.
