Sažetak
Corrosion behaviour of metallic material in oral fluids is strongly influenced by their microstructural characteristics and surface properties. Saliva may corrode different alloys and thereby causes release of metal ions. Element release from dental castings into the oral environment is of clinical concern and is considered to be a potential health problem to all patients. Toxic concentrations of ions can lead to many adverse physiological effects, including citotoxicity, genotoxicity, carcinogenicity, and metal sensitivity. Therefore, in this study the cast specimens of commercial CoCrMo alloy (Wironit® ; ; ; ) were examined after immersion in two different electrolytes simulating oral fluids (saliva and dentobacterial plaque) for 30 days at 37 º ; ; ; C. Electrochemical behaviour of CoCrMo alloys is clearly affected by ionic concentration of the fluids used in this study. It is obvious that some complex mechanisms involving reactions between ionic species are dominating the interfacial processes which in turn affects the morphology and composition of the deposits formed on the metallic substrate.
