Sažetak
Since cellular growth and proliferation require increased protein synthesis, in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) during these processes the discrepancies between the demand and capacities of their maturation may occur. In these conditions, molecular chaperons, such as glycoprotein 96 (gp96) enables the proper protein folding, preventing the protein aggregation that can induce cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Moreover, during implantation and embryonic growth there is a possibility that these processes ensure the normal fetal implantation and development. Therefore, in this study we analyzed the expression and distribution of ER resident molecular chaperon gp96 in fetal and placental tissues at the 16th day of syngeneic pregnancy. The data showed that gp96 is highly upregulated in many of fetal tissues, particularly in the epithelium, as well as at the site of fetomaternal junction.
