Sažetak
An analysis of introduction of the MRP system was carried out in four Croatian manufacturing companies. Among them three are of a medium size and one is large, and they all have serial production, which is repetitive, discrete type production. Three of the four companies apply the MAX software for the first time, while one of them has had another MRP II software for some time. The survey was based on the questionnaire. The basic conclusions arrived at are as follows: • Operating costs are reduced as a result of inventory reduction, which also cuts the sales price. • Uncertainty is eliminated in terms of accuracy of material quantity built into the product, dynamic distribution of demand, and accuracy of scrap. • Set-up time per product unit according to the work order is reduced. • The management gives full support to the application of MAX software and uses the data originating from its application to make business decisions. • Accurate records of costs according to each work order is possible, in terms of material, work, or cooperation. • Such records of costs ensure good simulations of input costs to make the sales price calculation easier.
