Sažetak
Huge quantities of water used in the technological process of wood pulp production produce large quantities of wastewater. Pulp and paper wastewater contains significant quantities of toxic substances and it has to be treated prior depositing in the environment. In this paper, the influence of coagulants and flocculants (cationic and anionic) on the quality of treated wastewater from pulp industry was tested. The wastewater samples used in testing were taken from the factory Drvenjaca d.d., Fuzine. The application of coagulants and different types and concentrations of flocculants affects the amount of contaminations in wastewater. Turbidity, pH, and total suspended solids were measured as markers of the treated wastewater quality. Using coagulants EP-10 and anionic flocculants A-45 in the treatment of pulp wastewater, the best results for measured parameters were obtained. These results suggest that the application of coagulants EP-10 and anionic flocculants A-45 in the pulp wastewater treatment can enable the reuse of wastewater in the process of wood pulp production.
