Sažetak
Nutritive quality of broiler meat can be improved through modification of fatty acid profile, especially through the increase of n-3 PUFA and the decrease of n-6 PUFA, thus affecting lowering of their ratio in meat. This study investigates supplementation of broiler diets with oils: soybean oil (SO), linseed oil (LO), rapeseed oil (RO), and oils enriched with EPA (PBE1) and DHA (PBE2). The experiment was carried out on 120 Ross 308 broilers divided into four feeding treatments: A (3% SO), B (1.5% LO + 1.5% RO), C (1.5% LO + 1.4% RO + 0.1% PBE1) and D (1.5% LO + 1.4% RO + 0.1% PBE2). Fattening period lasted for 42 days. End weights of broilers in groups A, B, C and D were 2.017, 2.123, 2.157 and 2.075 kg, respectively. Parameters considered for economic analysis were: average live weight, food consumption and conversion, price of feeding mixtures. Costs of feeding mixtures differed among groups with respect to supplemented oils, which were considered as variable costs. Total costs of broiler production include fixed costs, as well. Respecting the above stated group order, the content of n-3 PUFA in total FA in breast meat lipids was 6.21, 7.65, 7.67 and 8.14%, and the content of n-6 PUFA was 38.64, 37.37, 35.73 and 36.3%. The n-6/n-3 PUFA ratio was 6.28, 4.89, 4.66 and 4.48. Economic analysis showed that costs of diets per 1 kg of live weight were 0.98 € for group A, 1.05 € for group B, 1.07 € for group C and 1.06 € for group D. Total costs in EUR/kg of live weight were: 2.11, 2.18, 2.13 and 2.15. Modification of diet composition affected the lowering of the n-6/n-3 PUFA ratio in breast meat from 6.28 to 4.48, however, it was accompanied with the increase in production costs from 0.95-3.32%.
