Sažetak
The use of antibiotic in therapy and in animal fed for growth-promoting can distributed the natural gut flora. By the administration of probiotic strains which are resistant to antibiotic, gut microflora can be restored. Two probiotic strains Lactobacillus acidophilus M92 and Lactobacillus plantarum L4 were screened for antibiotic resistance and for presence of extrachromosomal elements that could be resposible for antibiotic resisitance. Both strain were susuceptible to ampicilin, cephalexin, kanamicin, erytromycin and bacitracin. Variability in resistance to oxytetracycline, streptomycin-sulphate, nisin, sulphamethoxazole-trimethoprim and gentamicin was observed. Both strains werw resistant to penicilin G, nystatin and chloramphenicol. Minimum inhibitory concentrations of antibiotics for these strains were also determined. The plasmid profiles showed one (L. plantarum L4) and two plasmid bands (L. acidophilus M92).Curing experiments, with ethidium bromide and acriflavine, didnt caused the loss of plasmid and no loss of resistance was observed in the colonies of treated lactic acid bacteria.
