Sažetak
Leishmaniases are worldwide spread zoonotic diseases. It is well known that some plants have good antileishmanial properties. Plantain (Plantago major) is used in traditional medicine as a remedy for dermatological problems like abscesses, burns, cuts, dermatitis, pruritus, wound healing etc. Besides this uses, plantain is used in respiratory, urogenital, heart and circulation problems. He is also used as antineoplastic, antiviral, antihelminthic, antimalaric and utmost important, as antileishmanial remedy. The data about its antileishmanial properties exists only in traditional medicine, as a help in lesion healing. There is no data about direct leishmanicidal activites of this plant. Aim of our study was to determine its eventually potential leishmanicidal effects.
