Sažetak
Successful amplification of ompA gene confirmed the presence of Rickettsia felis – like bacteria in Haemaphysalis sulcata ticks collected from sheep in southern Croatia. Comparison of ompA sequences obtained directly from ticks, from cloned amplicon and from bacteria isolated in mosquito cell line warrants for the existence of one particular species of Rickettsia in H. sulcata ticks. OmpA sequence of this Rickettsia surprisingly showed 99.3 % similarity to Candidatus R. hoogstraalii isolated from soft tick Carios capensis.
