Sažetak
Many nondestructive methods are available for the analysis of specimens from art and cultural heritage. We have used Raman microscopy and X-ray emission spectroscopy in the analyses of two leaden seals from Ragusa Republic, several ancient and medieval coins as well as several European post stamps from the second part of XIX century. These two techniques, which can provide information on both the atomic and molecular composition of materials are convenient methods to include students of physics, chemistry and history of arts in scientific investigations. Raman spectroscopy allows the identification of homogenous materials on the basis of their molecular vibrational spectra, obtained by excitation with visible laser light. An analitycal method which allows fast and simultaneous determination of concentration of all trace elements in a sample is X-ray emission spectroscopy. In our case X-rays were induced by radioactive source. Here, we present results of analysis of some cultural heritage specimens, but methods can be applied in different investigations, including environmental samples.
