Sažetak
In modern high-speed telecommunication networks carrying multimedia and video traffic there is a problem how to manage traffic flows network-wide. Link capacity requirement at each node is essentially captured by its low-frequency input traffic filtered at a properly selected cut-off frequency. The low-frequency traffic stays intact as it travels through a finite-buffer system without significant loss. In this paper some of the methods for link capacity allocation and network control are proposed. These processes should be based on the on-line observations of traffic flow in the low-frequency band. The use of DSP for the measurement and control purposes is recommended.
