Sažetak
Althought the kinetic stabilities of isomeric cis- and trans-forms of bis(N, O- aminoacidato)copper(II) complexes are expected to be the same in aqueous solution, the crystallization process preferably gives rise to solids composed of only one isomer. Recently, we have succeeded to crystallise a trinuclear chelate complex from an aqueous solution containing Cu(II) ions and the ligand 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (acc) that unexpectedly exhibited both structural isomers. Further experiments with this unusual compound have yielded an acetic acid solvate of this trimeric moiety. Crystal and molecular structures of this solvate, determined by X-ray diffraction, demonstrated again that the solid is built up of trimers of two cis- and one trans-Cu(acc)2 bis-chelate units. This observation indicates significant stability of such trimeric units and their possible use as molecular building-blocks in the solid-state synthesis. Trimeric moieties are cross-linked by an extensive system of hydrogen bonds of the O− H∙ ∙ ∙ O and N− H∙ ∙ ∙ O type. Solvate molecules of water and acetic acid are hydrogen-bonded to the water molecules acting as ligands, as well as to the chelate moieties, thus linking them into a stable two-dimensional architecture.
