Sažetak
Two types of intramolecular hydrogen bond (either N-H...O or N...H-O) can exist in aldimine compounds derived from the aromatic aldehydes having hydroxyl group in position 2 to the aldehyde group. It seems the hydrogen bond type depends neither on the stereochemistry of the molecular nor on tke sort of the substituent to the N imino atom but on the kind of the aldehyde used. The Schiff bases derived from salicylaldehyde always form the N...H-O type of hydrogen bonding regardless to the type of N-substituent (alkyl or aryl) while in the case of the title compounds the N-H...O type is formed.
