Sažetak
The article reveals the properties of different MgO forms prepared from serpentinite ore. By HCl leaching and the subsequent thermal decomposition of the intermediate MgCl2x6H2O, following the process of the complex hydrometallurgical serpentinite processing, a less active MgO form was obtained which is used in the refractory material production, but the CO2 pressure leaching directly from serpentinite, which was previously thermally treated by the fluidized layer method, gives off hthe disperse, active MgO form. The properties of MgOprepared from the serpentinite by various procedures were compared with the properties of plant-produced MgO using waste piles material left after refractory material production ("caustics").
The portion of disperse, active MgO forms in the nonrefractory usage (e.g. civil engineering, chemical industry, agronomy, pharmacy and environmental protection etc.) indicates a steady application rise.
