Sažetak
All drugs have the potential to precipitate an adverse event or reaction, which in its more serious form can lead to a drug-induced disease. Drug induced diseases are a continuing concern for patients and health-care practitioners alike. The mere interplay with complex physiological factors makes drug-induced diseases something that must be considered as part of the risk /benefit profile of any medication administration event. Since pharmacists, physicians, nurses and other health care professionals are on the front line of patient care and pharmacotherapy, they must be knowledgeable about the risk of drug-induced diseases and methods of detection, prevention and management. Therefore students studying the health professions at undergraduate and postgraduate levels must be more trained regarding both the benefits and the risk of drug use, and pharmacovigilance principles, as well.
