Sažetak
Today’ s science is a global phenomenon and we are part of an expanding knowledge network that has no borders. The globalisation of the economy has resulted in market increasing which is less dependent on national governments and more dependent on international cooperation. The most vital economies in the 21st century will be those that are immersed in knowledge networks. Our progress is dependent on science, technology and communications. The steady growth of scientific capacity, the expansion of the Internet, and the hyper-mobility of knowledge has enabled new knowledge producers in global science and technology communities, and the leading-edge companies will be those that perceive research as a global and affiliated enterprise. In the 21st century, security and competitiveness in science requires sharing, rather than protecting knowledge and information. This moves all to new horizons in sciences. The European Union, by creating and now expanding its European Research Area (ERA), encourages researchers and scientists across countries, to pool their knowledge and infrastructure into knowledge network, by focusing on cooperation and dissemination. Every country’ s knowledge base is viewed as a resource in scientific and technological discovery rather than a threat. Networking in pharmaceutical sciences, through and together with the European Federation for Pharmaceutical Sciences (EUFEPS), is initiative established for making better contacts with all stakeholders in pharmacy, national sister societies/institutions/agencies, all pursuing excellence in drug discovery, development and use, and pharmaceutical education and training. The objective of this target point session is forum opening with interactive discussion relevant to main theme: • Benefits from networking through EUFEPS • Are there borders in pharmaceutical sciences? • What are obstacles of networking in pharmaceutical sciences? • Are there borders in medicines market? • Science knows no borders, but funders do • No border where there is no data • Needs for networking in pharmaceutical sciences • Pharmaceutical sciences are core of any pharmacy education.
