Sažetak
The following paper is about the Olympic movement in Croatia since its origins. The period ranging from 1894 to 1912 in Croatia was very turbulent in political, social and cultural sense. Therefore, sport also presented a particular battlefield in order to accomplish the affirmation of Croatia and Croatian people in the world of sport and the Olympic movement. Reports and reviews about the foundation of the International Olympic Committee were prominent features of daily, weekly and monthly press. In addition, we will write something about the role of Croatian sport enthusiasts in the modern Olympic movement. The most important person in promoting Olympic movement in Croatia was Franjo Bučar and because of that it is almost impossible to write an article about Olympism in Croatia without mentioning this person.
