Sažetak
Aim: to determine risk factors in sexual behaviour of adolescents in Rijeka as a ground for preventive measures.Material and methods: a study group of 1150 adolescents from several secondary schools in Rijeka, aged 14-18, answered a questionnaire about their sexual behaviour.The variables analysed were: age at testing, gender, age of first intercourse, age of partner at first intercourse, number of partners, number of intercourse per time, and protective mesaures used.Results: more than half of the tested girls started their sexual life at the age of 17.Boys started mostly at the age of 17, but not significantly different from those aged 16-19.The first intercourse with an older partner was most prominent in girls-boys preferred coevals.Upon secondary school completion, less than 20% of girls and boys had sex with two or more partners, mostly once a month or week. The most inportant was the use of protective measures: less than a half of sexually active girla and boys used condoms and about 10% were not concerned about protection.Conclusion:results of our investigation point to the need of more aggresive sexual education of adolescents. Also, the availability of condoms should be improved through condom dispensers at school or other public places.
