Sažetak
Animal models are indispensible to evaluate theoretical concepts and to develop therapeutical strategies. A perfect model comprising all features of multiple sclerosis is not available. Our studies help to reconcile a number of concepts derived from studies of other virus-host model such as Theiler-virus infections in mice and the EAE-systems employed to study demyelination. In addition, coronavirus infections of rodents are also of interest to investigate the process of remyelination-an important aspect for therapy-and to analyse the consequences of persistent virus infections for functions of CNS cells and their interactions with the immune system.
