Sažetak
Library service for the blind and visually impaired has been started in 2006 with aim to attain equal inclusion of blind and visually impaired persons in local community and society in general through local public library by using library reading materials, information technology, automatized circulation, book mobile service etc. Target groups are blingd and visually impaired children, youth and adults with their needs for better access to sources of knowledge and information in their local community to get better education and information opportunities, complete their formal education, obtain professional qualification, find employment and contribute to the life of the community and society in general in a more substantial way. Cooperation between Public library of Koprivnica and the Croatian Library for the Blind has been established from the very beginning of new service project planning and continuing up to now. It was also evident in the phase of service implementation, especially in training of library staff in delivering new service and in educational programs as well, with main goal to bring the library special reading materials and technical equipment closer to potential users and all others involved in their care and education. The most important, vital part of cooperation is procurement of talking books from the Croatian library for the blind. Commercial offer of audio books is very poor in Croatia in this moment. Besides, there a wide scale of possibilities and common interests in further cooperation, which could be a model for other Croatian public libraries.
