Sažetak
Preservice teachers may benefit from learning in an environment that supports interactions with children. Therefore, integrating elementary school children into a mathematics methodology course may help preservice teachers better understand how to teach mathematics to optimize student learning centered on problem-based learning. This paper describes a structure to help preservice teachers get invaluable field experience through aligning theory with practice supported by the integration of elementary school children into their university mathematics methods course. The framework is described as a model to help others wanting to establish a similar course.
