Sažetak
UNESCO defines literacy as "the ability to identify, understand, interpret, create, communicate and compute, using printed and written materials associated with varying contexts. Literacy involves a continuum of learning to enable an individual to achieve his or her goals, to develop his or her knowledge and potential, and to participate fully in the wider society." The question is how to promote literacy and work on developing a culture of literacy, how to get people motivated for reading, to support confidence in reading, enable enjoyment in reading and how to stimulate and enable communication by reading. The Fair will show which strategies should be used by libraries and librarians to be successful in contribution to the development of literate society.
