Sažetak
Distribution of contaminants, including common parameters (chloride, ammonia, chemical oxygen demand and iron) and heavy metals (Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn) was investigated in the vicinity of the main landfill of the city of Zagreb, Croatia. The study comprised the determination of the total content and leachable fraction of the selected parameters in soils below the landfill as well as in groundwater. It was shown that partitioning of individual contaminants between the solid and liquid phase during vertical infiltration has a decisive impact on their migration in the aquifer near the landfill.
